Buy Direct or Use an Agent?

It does not save you any money to buy direct from the insurance provider. Policy quotes are controlled by law and will be the same regardless of their origination. Oftentimes, it is very helpful to speak to an independent agent as we can discuss several plans from several competing carriers as oppose to just one. All policies are not created equal and will offer stronger benefits in certain areas.

Choosing a Suitable Health Insurance Policy

Indiana Health InsuranceAll insurance companies provide high deductible, catastrophic coverage for those who desire lower monthly premiums.  High deductible plans will keep premiums low for the consumer while providing peace of mind in the event of a major claim.

As an added benefit, many of our Indiana carriers provide preventive care that is not subject to the deductible.  This way, you can have a yearly checkup, wellness visit, or annual OBGYN appointment with little or no out of pocket expenses.

In contrast, consumers searching for low deductible, comprehensive coverage with immediate benefits will have several options.  Coverage begins sooner with these benefit rich plans.

Short Term Health Insurance

If you are between jobs or needing to satisfy a short waiting period before employer benefits begin, then short term coverage might be best for you. Anthem, Assurant, and United Healthcare all offer policies with durations as short as one month. These plans may not be ideal if you are unsure when you will next have group coverage. Should your overall health change while on a short term plan, you might not be able to renew it or qualify for permanent coverage. In most cases, simply paying for permanent coverage month to month is the prudent thing to do.

Indiana Business and Group Coverage

We offer group health insurance policies from a variety of well known national carriers. If your employees are only in IN or reside in several states, we can recommend a plan that is suitable for your business. Additionally, we provide ancillary benefits such as life, disability, dental and vision on either a company sponsored or voluntary basis. In order to provide you with accurate illustrations, we will need a company census. You can request group quotes here.

Health Savings Account Qualified (HSA Plans)

Health savings accounts coupled with high deductible health insurance are fast becoming a popular alternative to traditional plans. Funds deposited in HSA’s are tax deductible, grow tax deferred, and can be withdrawn tax free for qualified medical expenses.  Deductibles, coinsurance amounts, co-payments, prescriptions, dental work and vision costs are just a few examples.

The accumulated funds in a health savings account always belong to the insured, not the insurance company. You can setup your account with the carrier’s preferred bank or one of your choosing. If you prefer more aggressive strategies, some investment companies offer mutual funds as an options. Should you ever cancel your coverage, then the balance of the account will be returned. However, the unused funds may lose their tax favored status.
