Health Insurance Coverage

There is no doubt that going without medical coverage can be a significant risk. And unless you are experiencing a qualifying life event, you cannot purchase coverage outside of the Open Enrollment window each year. We can help.

We provide permanent plans, short term coverage and health savings account qualified medical plans. Using our direct online links, you can view quotes and purchase coverage easily with or without our assistance. It should be noted that in order to receive a tax credit, you must apply on the state exchange.

It is important to understand that not all plans are ACA compliant. Some older plans have been grandfathered in, but other mini-medical and short term plans do not provide minimum essential coverage.

Short Term Health Insurance Plans To Fill Defined Gaps

Unless you are in the Open Enrollment window (November 15th through February 15th) or you are experiencing a qualifying life event (involuntarily losing coverage) you may only be able to purchase a short term health insurance plan in California.

Short term health insurance plans can be purchased in most areas for up to 12 months and can help with prescription coverage, dr’s visits and the like. These policies do require medical underwriting, but are fairly comprehensive in nature. They will not, however, help you to avoid Obamacare penalties as they do not qualify as Minimum Essential Coverage.

Compare Deductible, Copay, and Preventive Care Options

We offer several benefit designs, deductibles, co-payments and coinsurance options. We have comprehensive plans as well as more basic policies that cover only catastrophic needs for young adults.

As part of the Affordable Care Act, all plans now cover maternity related expenses. Your plan design will determine your out-of-pocket exposure for pregnancy. All plans include $0 preventive care and there are no longer lifetime maximums on any ACA compliant plans purchased after 2014.

Our carriers have agreements with many California doctors, hospitals and health care facilities. You will have many choices when it comes to your health care needs. Whether you purchase insurance on or off of the California health insurance exchange, staying in network will help you to realize the most savings from your plans.

California Health Insurance – Health Savings Accounts

A few years ago, Congress passed legislation approving tax-favored savings accounts that can be coupled with high deductible health policies. These plans are referred to as Health Savings Accounts or HSA’s. In return for lower premiums, most incidentals (like rx coverage and doctor’s visits) will be subject to the deductible. Once the deductible has been reached, then coverage begins in full. Preventive care is never subject to the deductible, however.

Money deposited in your account can be deducted from your income taxes up to yearly HSA limits. Deposits grow tax-deferred and gain interest based on current savings rates or the performance of chosen investments. When needed, funds can be withdrawn tax-free for qualified medical expenses such as reaching a deductible or coinsurance amount, dental/vision bills, or prescription costs. Unused funds remain in the account year after year and always belong to the insured – even after the policy is cancelled.

Request Agent Assistance, Quotes & Enrollment

We will work hard to find the health insurance plans in California that best suit your needs and budget. The passage of the ACA has dramatically affected the landscape of medical insurance, so you may want to talk with an agent before purchasing a plan.
