We are here to help. We license directly with the most competitive and highly-rated insurance carriers offering Supplemental insurance policies. There are never any fees or additional charges to use our services. We can help you understand and enroll in the most suitable insurance plan for your needs and budget.

Understanding The Ten Medicare Supplement Plans A-N

There are ten Medicare supplement plans to choose from: A, B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M, and N. There are also High Deductible versions of Plan G and Plan F.

Each Medicare supplement plan offers a varying degree of coverage and fills in all or most of the important gaps in  Original Medicare Parts A and B offered by the federal government.

Plan F is the most comprehensive supplement available as it fills in all of the gaps in Medicare A & B. So long as your healthcare is a Medicare-approved expense, Plan F will pick up the remaining costs. There are no yearly maximums or limits. (However, if you are new to Medicare in 2020 or beyond, Plan F is unavailable for purchase.  The next most comprehensive options are Plans G, D and N.)

All other supplemental plans will fill in most gaps. Typically our clients will balance premiums with the out-of-pocket costs associated with each plan they are considering.

We have a Medicare supplement coverage chart on our website that details what each plan covers and the known out-of-pocket expenses associated with each plan. Please feel free to call us with any questions about how these gaps might affect you.

It is important to note, that by rule, no Medicare supplement plans sold today provide prescription drug coverage. Those plans (Part D) must be purchased separately, but our agency can help with those as well.

The Most Popular Medicare Supplement Plans F, G, & N

We have been offering supplemental coverage for many years and the policies most commonly purchased by our clients are Plans F, G, N, and High Deductible F.

Many beneficiaries like Plan G as it has only one small gap – the Medicare Part B deductible. Many Plan G premiums can be at least $25 less per month than the best-priced Plan F, so the math is in favor of Plan G.

Our clients also inquire about High Deductible Plan G and F coverage. These policies are especially popular as the premiums are some of the lowest around. The deductible for High Deductible plans is growing more quickly each year, however. Inexpensive HD policies can be a good fit for those who don’t want a Medicare Advantage plan.

Medicare Supplement Insurance Networks In New Jersey

So long as you are purchasing a traditional Medicare supplement, you do not need to worry about any network restrictions. In other words, if your doctor or hospital accepts Medicare, then they will any policy you provide to them. There is not a different network for each Medicare Supplement company like there is with other health insurance policies.

It does not matter who you choose as your Medicare supplement provider in New Jersey – Aetna, Mutual of Omaha, United Healthcare AARP, etc. – you can see anyone who accepts Medicare as your primary coverage. Your supplement will fill in its gaps after Medicare pays.

It is more common to see network issues with Medicare Advantage plans. These plans typically require their members to use certain doctors and hospitals in order to reduce costs. This can be a problem if you are referred to someone who is outside of your Advantage plan’s network. Before choosing an Advantage plan, you’ll want to make sure your preferred providers accept it.

Finding A Prescription Part D Drug Insurance Plan

As a full-service New Jersey Medicare supplement insurance agency, we also offer prescription Part D Drug assistance and enrollment. These policies can also be confusing for consumers, so we help to simplify the comparison and enrollment process. One plan does not fit all here. You may benefit from a much different policy than your spouse, friend, or neighbor.

Plan premiums, plan deductibles, drug copays, and pharmacy options are the features you want to compare when shopping for a suitable Part D plan. The Plan Finder tool at Medicare.gov can be a valuable resource for comparison shopping. We can help you understand the results of these comparisons and what they mean to you.

And it’s wise to shop Stand Alone Part D Drug plan each year during the Open Enrollment window. Benefits and costs can change drastically year over year, so don’t assume your coverage will be the same. It likely won’t and you can end up overpaying needlessly.
