Texas Individual Health Insurance Quotes

If you shopping for an individual health insurance plan, we can help.  Depending on your needs, we have several affordable options for you to choose from.

In fact, many insurance companies cater to the individual market.  Whether you are self-employed and in need of a permanent long term plan or between jobs and needing short term coverage, we will help find the most suitable coverage for you.

Due to current laws, there are no plans offering individual child only health insurance coverage, so you will still need an adult on any plan that also covers dependents.  There are some mini-med plans for children only, but they are not as comprehensive as you might want.

Family Health Coverage Insurance In Texas

Typically, family health plans will be more permanent in nature, but we also offer short term family insurance coverages as well depending on your circumstances.

Those with young children will be happy to know that all plans must cover preventive care without the insured first reaching the deductible.  Well child care, vaccinations and other preventive care will be covered on a first dollar basis as well.

We can help you decide between plans that offer a doctor’s office copay and those that leave more incidental out-of-pocket expenses up to the insured – like a health savings account.

If you or a family member visits the doctor frequently, then it might be best to choose a plan with a low office copay.  However, if you are more comfortable paying for visits on your own or through an account with tax advantages, then an HSA qualified plan may be best as the monthly premiums will be lower.

There are very few plans that offer maternity coverage or that will cover pregnancy related expenses at this time.  If you are already pregnant however, then you will not be offered health insurance coverage from any carrier until the child has been delivered.

What Are Health Savings Accounts?

Health savings accounts are simply tax-qualified accounts that can be attached to certain high deductible health insurance plans.  The primary advantages of HSA qualified plans are lower premiums and yearly tax deductions.

First you must choose a qualified individual or family health plan.  Then you can decide whether you want to also setup a health savings account.   Contributions to HSA’s can be written off against your income, will grow tax deferred, and can be withdrawn on a tax free basis for qualified medical expenses.

Health plans offering a HSA option will leave most of the incidental out-of-pocket expenses up to the insured – except for preventive care.  This means that most doctors visits and prescription drugs are paid for by the insured until the deductible has been reached.  However, contributions to the HSA can be used to pay for these incidentals while also providing tax advantages.

Health savings account contributions always belong to the insured.  If you cancel your insurance at a later date or move to another plan, your HSA monies still belong to you.  In no way are they ever surrendered involuntarily to the insurance company.  They could be used to voluntarily meet your deductible however.

Optional Dental And Vision Insurance Coverage

Many of our health insurance carriers also offer ancillary benefits like dental and vision coverage. These benefits can be added to an existing health plan or purchased on a stand alone basis. There will usually be some waiting periods for certain benefits to take effect, but typically there is no medical underwriting needed with dental and vision insurance.

Additionally, a few carriers will also offer options for life insurance coverage, accident, and disability benefits. These benefits can be added to your health plan or purchased on their own depending on your needs.  We work with several carriers offer ancillary benefits of all kinds.
