Texas Health Insurance Quotes & Coverage

Texas Health InsuranceIf you’re shopping for an individual or family health insurance plan, we can help. Depending on your needs, we have several affordable options for you to choose from.

We offer plans both on and off the federal health insurance exchange in Texas. If you qualify for a tax credit/subsidy, then shopping on the exchange will provide you with the most savings.

Many of our insurance companies cater to the individual market. Whether you are self-employed and in need of a permanent long term plan or between jobs and needing short term coverage, we will help find the most suitable coverage for you.

With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, all plans cover maternity expenses and child only health insurance can once again be purchased. Coverage must be purchased during open enrollment unless you have involuntarily lost your coverage or you are experiencing a qualifying life event.

If you’re outside of the Open Enrollment window (November 1st thru December 15th) and unsure of your options, then call us to learn more. There are no costs to use our services.

Family Health Coverage Insurance In Texas

Typically, family health plans will be more permanent in nature, but we also offer short term family insurance coverage as well – depending on your needs. It is important to note that short term plans don’t cover maternity. They also don’t qualify for tax credits.

Those with young children will be happy to know all plans sold on the Federal Marketplace cover preventive care. You do not need to reach the deductible first. Vaccinations, checkups, wellness visits and other preventive care will be covered right away at no cost to the insured. These services are not subject to the deductible.

We can help you decide between plans that offer a doctor’s office copay and those that leave incidental out-of-pocket expenses up to the insured – like a health savings account.

If you or a family member visits the doctor frequently, then it might be best to choose a plan with a low office copay. However, if you are more comfortable paying for visits on your own or through an account with tax advantages, then a HSA qualified plan may be best as the monthly premiums will be lower.

Ambetter, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, Christus, Community Health Choice, FirstCare, IdealCare, Humana, Molina, and Oscar all offer Marketplace plans. These are ACA (Obamacare-type) policies.

If you’re looking for short term policies, then Aetna (thru National General) Anthem BCBS, and United Healthcare are good choices. Use the box on the right to contact us depending on your needs.

What Are Health Savings Accounts?

Health savings accounts are tax-qualified accounts that can be attached to certain high deductible health insurance plans. The primary advantages of HSA qualified plans are lower premiums and yearly tax deductions.

First you must choose a qualified individual or family health plan. These can only be purchased on or through the Federal Marketplace. (And HSA can never be combined with a short term policy.)

You can then setup a health savings account. Contributions to HSA’s are tax-deductible, grow tax deferred, and can be withdrawn tax free basis for qualified medical expenses. You might use this account to meet your deductible or coinsurance, pay for a doctor’s appointment, and/or cover dental & vision costs.

Health plans offering a HSA option will leave most of the incidental out-of-pocket expenses up to the insured – except for preventive care. This means most doctors’ visits and prescription drugs are paid for by the insured until the deductible has been reached. However, contributions to the HSA can be used to pay for these incidentals while also providing tax advantages.

Health savings account contributions always belong to the insured. If you cancel your insurance at a later date or move to another plan, your HSA monies still belong to you. In no way are they ever surrendered to the insurance company.

Optional Dental And Vision Insurance Coverage

Many of our health insurance carriers also offer ancillary benefits like dental and vision coverage. These benefits can be added to an existing health plan or purchased on a stand alone basis. There will usually be some waiting periods for certain benefits to take effect, but typically there is no medical underwriting needed with dental and vision insurance.

Additionally, a few carriers will also offer options for life insurance coverage, accident, and disability benefits. These benefits can be added to your health plan or purchased on their own depending on your needs. We work with several carriers offer ancillary benefits of all kinds.

Some of our most popular insurance companies for dental, vision and ancillary coverage are Blue Cross and Blue Shield, United Healthcare and Humana.
