Georgia Medicare Supplements
We offer Medicare Supplement quotes and coverage for seniors age 65 and above in Georgia. Our independent agency represents many of the well know carriers offering Medsup and Medigap plans including Bankers Fidelity, Mutual of Omaha, United Health Care, Anthem and Aetna. If you are near age 65 and soon to enroll in Medicare or shopping for better rates on you current plan, we can assist you.
Do You Need Help Choosing a Plan?
The ten supplemental plans to choose from are labeled A through J. Plan A offers only basic benefits not covered by Medicare while Plan J offers the most benefits. With the arrival of Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage most insurance companies no longer offer plans H through J. In Georgia, Plans F and G are now most popular when coupled with prescription coverage. Premium costs will increase from Plans A through F.
Other supplements offered by insurance carriers include high deductible plans. In order for benefits to begin, the insured would need to reach a predetermined deductible. Some insurance companies offer supplemental coverage with a network of doctors and hospitals to choose from – as oppose to using any doctor or hospital. The advantage of selecting a high deductible or “in network” plan is they are less expensive than traditional coverage.
Medicare Eligibility and Policy Renewal
If you are currently enrolled or soon to be enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B, then you are eligible to purchase a Medigap plan. This is considered the “open enrollment” time period for the insured. This means the applicant cannot be turned down due to poor health. Additionally, you are eligible to purchase a supplement after age 65 if you are losing group health insurance from an employer. Foreigners are eligible to purchase a plan at or after age 65 if they have lived in the U.S. for at least five years.
All Medicare supplement insurance is “guaranteed renewable.” So long as you pay your premiums on time, your coverage cannot be cancelled. It is important to note that the insurance company underwriting your plan can raise your rates due to age increases and/or claims experience. If you experience above average rate increase and are in good health, we can help you switch to a more affordable plan.
