Currently there are only a few companies offering Medicare Supplements to those under the age of 65 in Ohio.  Unfortunately, consumers on Medicare disability will not have the same options available to them as someone age 65 or older.  Upon reaching age 65, early Medicare participants will have an open enrollment period available to them (like all seniors) where any supplemental plan can be purchased.  It is wise to lock in a plan during this period.  (Contact us to learn your options.)

Plans Offered

The Medicare products available to those on disability are limited in scope.  Plans A and B are most commonly offered as well as a high deductible plan F.  While not necessarily the most comprehensive coverage, plans A, B and high deductible plan F will help fill in some of the gaps not covered by Medicare.  However, it is worth noting that due to claims experience, policies are more expensive than traditional coverage available to those at age 65.  Additionally, consumers will need to go through underwriting in order to qualify for a Medigap plan early.  The policies are not guaranteed to be issued to all who apply.
