We are now proud to be offering Central States Indemnity Medicare supplement insurance direct to consumer. As an independent insurance agency offering Medigap plans, we are always looking for new companies offering the lowest rates in various states and regions.
We like Central States Indemnity as they are a highly rated carrier with strong financial backing. As a consumer, it can be difficult to compare rates with several carriers on your own, so we have created a one-stop shop to help you find the plan(s) that best suit your needs.
Central States Indemnity Company Of Omaha
CSI was founded over 35 years ago and currently has an A+ rating with AM Best. One of the primary reasons they has been awarded such a high rating is they are a Berkshire Hathaway company and by proxy have significant financial stability behind them.
Berkshire Hathaway is of course the large investment conglomerate run by none other than Warren Buffett. In 1992, Berkshire acquired Central States and due to the immense resources behind such a well respect holding company, CSI is afforded an extremely high rating for a midsize Medicare supplement provider.
Understanding Medicare Supplement Insurance Trends
Warren Buffett is known for his investment savvy. With so many baby boomers aging into Medicare, it makes senses that Berkshire Hathaway would enter this growing market. There will always be a need for new and affordable Medigap carriers.
After all, it really does not matter where you purchase your supplemental insurance from – a Plan F is a Plan F. That simply means that insurance companies cannot change the coverage. All benefit levels are mandated by law. And traditional supplemental insurance plans have no network restrictions.
Thus, you are simply shopping for a reliable, well-rated carrier who offers affordable Medigap rates and reasonable future premium increases. CSI has a good reputation when considering all of those factors and should remain that way going forward.
Now Offering Plan G In Many States
New to 2013, CSI is introducing Plan G in several states. Plan G is a very good choice for those who would rather exchange lower premiums for slightly more exposure to out of pocket expenses.
Plan G covers everything that Plan F does except for the Medicare Part B deductible – which is only $147 for 2013. In many cases, Plan G’s premium savings can more than make up for that difference.
Plan G is not a guaranteed issue plan. This simply means that unless the applicant is in open enrollment and new to Medicare Part B, then he or she will need to undergo medical underwriting. Thus, it’s harder to enroll in Plan G which means future rate increases can be lower for those who qualify.
Central States Indemnity In Pennsylvania
Some insurance carriers tend to carve out certain niches for themselves. That is to say that not all carriers offer the lowest prices in every state once they have been approved to offer coverage.
One state where Central States Indemnity offers some of the lowest Medicare supplement insurance rates is Pennsylvania. When compared to their competition, CSI is very affordably priced for those who are aging into Medicare at age 65 as well as those who are simply shopping around for better rates.
CSI offers coverage in many other states as well, but Pennsylvania is one of their best regions. Even though CSI might be slightly more at onset in other states and regions however, it is sometimes best to pay a little more upfront assuming their rate increases are more reasonable upon renewal.
It should also be noted that CSI is very competitively priced in Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and several other states as well. And their year over year rate increases have been below average – and that’s something our clients always appreciate.
